At the end of my professional life, I decided to take advantage of my new freedom to launch out with a friend on the pedestrian way going from the Pyrenées to Santiago de Compostela (Camino Frances) in Spain, then two years later, on a part of the Francigena trail in Italy from Genoa to Rome.

These two pilgrimages deeply marked us, and we then thought about the fact that we also had a very famous and world-wide known site in France, as famous as Santiago de Compostela or Rome. The idea of creating a pedestrian trail between Bordeaux (where we live) and Lourdes (with the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary) came to our mind. We named it “La Voie de Lourdes”.

We gave ourselves three objectives in order that this footpath could be used by everyone: give priority to safety by walking mainly on pathways, allowing you to discover the towns and villages on your way, planning stops every 20 km on average.

You will walk on rural pathways, sections of local hiking trails made out by Department and town councils.

The “Voie de Lourdes” opened in April 2013. Topoguide (itinerarie map and text) is ready. We sincerely hope that you will be numerous in joining, individually or with your family or friends, to support our project and then come to walk on our trail.

We hope you to find on the “Voie de Lourdes” a place favourable to relaxation, friendliness, new acquaintances, and also calm, reflexion and inner peace.

Join our Association so that we may together create this hiking trail. We will be very happy to count you among our Members.
